I'm interested in forming a group that would submit entries to architectural competitions. The goal is to provide traditional design options for large competitions that often have only modernist submissions from architects like Hadid, Ghery, Rogers, Meier, etc. There are several ways that it could be setup, but I'm thinking that a collaborative structure is the way to go. There are other issues to be figured out, such as what to do when the group submits a winning entry and is therefore involved with the prosecution of the project. That should be discussed and figured out!
I see there being several roles to fill, and more than one of each spot is going to be necessary:

  • Coordinator
  • Designer
  • 3D Renderer / Model-maker
  • Draftsman
  • Writer

Keep it electronic, keep it green.
I feel like a collaborative effort like this, much more common in the urban design arena, is sorely overdue to bring the next generation of refinement and sophistication to architectural competitions. And traditional architecture could take the stage early!
I look forward to hearing how people feel about this, whether the responses are from interested parties or not.
Regards,
Greg
